I do it too! I have declawed cats, 4 outta the 9 in my cluter, and regularly rub on their toes, to keep them healthy and stretched.
Before anyone jumps me, I'll explain. I had my first 2 cats declawed - over 18 years ago, then again, 11 years ago. It was before the internet was what it is now. It's not an excuse, just the fact - vet's don't educate when there's money to be made!
The other 2 I saved from doom at the local shelter, since they are house brothers, both black and both declawed. One has multi-toes, a Hemingway and the f'ing vet actually too all those little claws OFF, so this poor boy walks like he's in so much pain . . . Almost flat footed and heart-breaking to see. Best thing though, he uses those extra toes like thumbs and can grab a plate of food to pull towards him like no cat EVER!
