Rescue Chocolate: "The Sweetest Way to Save a Life!"

If you're like me, you can't think of anything that could be better than helping animals and eating chocolate at the same time. Luckily for us, that's where Rescue Chocolate comes in! The Brooklyn-based company was founded in January 2010 by Sarah Gross in an effort to raise funds for animal rescue groups, while also bringing awareness to different aspects of the pet overpopulation epidemic. Rescue Chocolates are vegan, kosher, and made in the finest Belgian tradition, and better yet, 100% of their net profits are donated to animal rescue organizations around the country!

Extreme close-up of the Mission Feral Fig bar, jam packed with mission figs, cranberries, and crunchy almonds!

The company's signature chocolate bars (which are strictly for humans, of course) come in yummy flavors like Peanut Butter Pit Bull and Foster-iffic Peppermint, but my pick is Mission Feral Fig, which was created to bring awareness to feral cat colonies. Priced at just $5.00 each, the bars truly are, as their tagline suggests, "The sweetest way to save a life!"

In addition, Rescue Chocolate also has some great options on hand for Easter, such as The Good Egg and Make Mine Chocolate Bunnies, that encourage the purchase of chocolate bunnies rather than live rabbits. Each month the company chooses one animal related rescue to donate their proceeds to, and sticking with that theme, this month they've selected House Rabbit Society.

Is your mouth watering yet? Rescue Chocolate can be purchased online, or check their website to find out where to buy them near you!

Very special thanks goes out to my friend Bunny Jean Cook (yes, she's a blogging bunny!) for this delicious find!

  3. Great idea -- I especially love the creative names! Reminds me of those World Wildlife chocolate bars that had endangered species cards with them.
