Get crafty for the kitties!
The Pet Postcard Project is the brainchild of writer Nikki Moustaki, who started the project as a way to help raise awareness and funds/food for rescue animals. The way it works is that people send in their handmade pet postcards featuring confessions, advice, wishes, and more (sort of like a PostSecret for the pussy & pooch set), and pet food companies pledge a certain amount of food to different rescue organizations based on how many cards come in.
I'm excited to report that for the first time EVER, for the months of June and July, the project is going to be dedicated to helping feed shelter kitties!
Cat Behaviorist and Animal Planet host Jackson Galaxy has adopted the cause to help donate food to two of his favorite rescue organizations: Cat House on the Kings and Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary.
From the PPP site:
For this campaign, Freekibble.com has generously pledged 15,000 meals of Halo Spot's Stew for cats to two animal shelters in conjunction with Halo Purely For Pets through the Pet Postcard Project!
Each rescue has 2 months to bring in 1000 cards each and they will earn 5000 meals each for their shelter. The rescue who brings in the most cards by the end of July will get an additional 5000 meals!
I've already created two postcards (seen in this post), and hope all of you will join me in participating in this fun project for a great cause!
Click here for all the details on how to make and submit a postcard of your own, and spread the word! Let's get these great organizations as many meals as we possibly can!
Update: The deadline to send in your postcards has been extended until August 15th!
This is a good idea. We will try to do it. Do we have to do the shelters that Jackson Galaxy recommends?? Although I do like the Blind cat Sanctuary. But there are some others that need help too. Thanks for showing this to us.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really cool. Great idea! LOVE your two postcards, they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous idea. I am going to check it out. I am running a fund raiser for a rescue that is quite small, can't compare to these but they need $$ all the same. I posted about them last Thurs. They are a mother and daughter team who have devoted their lives to saving animals. I am saddened that only two people have donated so far. Even if it is just $1, 100 people donating $1 would be $100!!.
ReplyDeleteI try to donate to everyone's causes when I can, and I understand not everyone can. Most of us can afford just $1...
I am on my way to check this one out right now. Thanks for posting
xoxoxo
