Proud Mr. Darcy Cat Print - 8 x 10, $20.00 (frame and cute cat not included!)
Mr. Darcy has always been a looker, but Colin Firth be damned, I'm not sure he's ever been THIS cute.
Etsy cat artist Tara Fly calls herself "inspired by Austen, obsessed with cats," and in turn, creates, "Gentleman Tuxies in tuxes" and "Calicos in Regency gowns," that would feel right at home in any turn of the century romantic novel.
Sir Dominic
The ardent Jane Austen fan says she modeled Mr. Darcy Cat after proud Sir Dominic, "my dashing tuxedo kitty, whose haughty manner would make the richest gentleman cower like a field mouse."
Tara says, "Yes, his one ear is curled due to a hematoma, but he doesn't like me telling people about his ear-mite infection: it's too embarrassing. He'd rather I tell you that he suffered a "war wound" during a ferocious battle where he was outnumbered 10-1, and his enemies surrendered in fear and defeat.
I actually began painting portraits of him in order to humor his grand delusions."
Tara is also a member of EFA (Etsy For Animals), and a portion of each sale of her prints, paintings, bookmarks, and note cards goes towards sponsoring a cat from Best Friends Animal Society.
(I found this a million years ago on ONTD, and knew it would come in handy someday!)
Slightly unrelated, but speaking of cats and period pieces, has anyone seen Bright Star (the wonderful 2009 movie, based on the brief romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne)?
Ben Whishaw and Topper the cat 4 lyfe!!
