Seth MacFarlane may be best known for canine characters, like Brian from his hit animated sitcom, Family Guy, but his latest project is all about helping out homeless kitties.
On July 16th, MacFarlane tweeted, "New no-kill pet shelter in my mom's name-- 'Cause animals are better than people," and linked to a donation page on causes.com for Perry's Place - The Perry MacFarlane Sanctuary at Heaven on Earth, a new cage-free sanctuary and adoption center for homeless cats.
Seth's mother, Ann Perry MacFarlane, who has been described as, "an inveterate animal lover and tireless rescuer," was known for caring for all kinds of animals, especially the ones that no one else would. Perry, as she was known, passed away in July of last year after losing her battle with cancer.
To help honor her memory, Seth has teamed up with Heaven on Earth Society for Animals in Van Nuys, CA, an organization known for its work helping to improve the quality of life for homeless animals, especially those who are often overlooked because of special needs and low potential for adoption.
In addition to MacFarlane's support of the Perry's Place project, the nonprofit is also accepting donations to help fund the purchase construction of the cat sanctuary, in her name.
Ritchie Geisel, president of Heaven of Earth, has released a statement saying, "MacFarlane's generosity will not only allow us to purchase and build a new sanctuary and adoption center, it will allow us to continue our lifesaving work as Perry's special legacy."
I love this!
ReplyDeleteYeah for cat guys and their moms!! Love her t-shirt and love the fact that he is doing this in her honor!!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. Did you read her t-shirt?? That was MOL-worthy!
ReplyDelete@Julia lol, yes!! :D
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Julia, I saw her shirt too and loved it!
I had always thought that Seth MacFarlane has animosity towards cats because of his several Family Guy episodes that are very disturbing to cat lovers. This just showed that we are wrong about Seth and that his wacky portrayals about cats in his TV cartoons are just plain humor only and should never taken seriously. I salute you Seth and thank you for what you are doing to cats! Your mother will be very proud!
