The Teal Cat Project Offers Kitschy Kitties for a Cause

I love cat tchotchkes as much as the next gal (one day I will do a post about my collection), so I couldn't help but get excited by The Teal Cat Project, a new initiative created by Post Punk Kitchen founder Isa Chandra Moskowitz.

With the motto, "Get a cat, save a cat!", the premise behind the project the is simple: Folks around the country donate their ceramic or porcelain kitty castaways, and the intrepid Teal Cat Project team paints 'em a snazzy shade of teal. For $25 (plus shipping), you can adopt one of the upcycled, one-of-a-kind creations of your own, complete with a numbered tag for authenticity. The first campaign is going on now, and 100% of the proceeds are going to benefit NYC Feral Cat Initiative.

The kitties are only available for a limited time until they run out, at which point new ones are commissioned, and a new affiliated group in a different city will be chosen to receive the funds. If you would like to buy, or donate a cat figure of your own, you can get all the deets here, or if tchotchkes ain't your thang, you may also want to consider donating a bit of money to the cause through their online shop.
