First Ever Attempted Cat Survey Reveals What Cats Really Think

I see a lot of cat care related press releases that I usually let pass me by, but this one from Temptations Cat Treats (no affiliation with them), really caught my attention. The purveyors of addictive cat snax teamed up with animal communicator Sonya Fitzpatrick, for the "world's first-ever attempted cat survey, uncovering the truth about what cats really think."

To complete the survey, Fitzpatrick (who I kinda love after meeting with her last month) looked at 250 winning photographs selected from the Temptations Facebook page, and "asked the cats by looking at their photo and using telepathic communication four questions cat owners have always wanted answered."

The results of the survey weren't surprising, to say the least (I don't need a psychic to tell me that a cat treat company is going to report on cats saying they "always" want treats), but I do believe in the power of telepathically communicating with animals, and think that any way we can learn more about our cats in hopes of helping them lead happier, healthier lives is worth talking about.

Survey Results:

1. What is your favorite thing to do?

52 percent of cats said that staying on the move and roaming around the house is their favorite thing to do, while only 1.6 percent reported watching TV as their favorite pastime (no word on if "squirrel television" was included in that number). I used my own psychic abilities to determine that "napping" made up the additional 46.4 percent of responses.

2. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Close to 50 percent of cats surveyed said getting wet was their biggest annoyance, while 29 percent surveyed chose being woken up as their biggest frustration. Based on my own personal experience, I would guess that the additional 20 percent of answers included, "furry housemates," "closed doors," and "having my paws touched."

3. How often do you like being treated?

Cats surveyed said they enjoyed getting treats as part of their daily routine, but only 1.6 percent of cats wanted those treats right after a meal or just before bed. When asked at what time they would like a treat, Fitzpatrick discovered almost half (45 percent) answered "right about now would be nice," followed by "always" at 28 percent.

4. What is your favorite thing to do with your human?

52 percent of cats said their favorite way to spend time with their human is to snuggle up and catch some zzzzz together, however I don't buy this feel good bit of PR marketing one bit. The more likely results are that 100% of cats responded that they enjoy spending time with their humans when they are being fed - but if there's a warm spot to pass out afterwards, then all the better!
