Non-Crazy Cat Lady Commissions 9-foot-tall Harry Potter Cat House

Houston-based cat owner and Harry Potter fan Laura Marshall doesn't see herself as some crazy cat lady, rather as a connoisseur of fine backyard art. At least that's what she's telling My Fox Houston about the 9-foot tall Harry Potter inspired cat house she had built in her backyard.

The Burrow was the inspiration behind Laura Marshall's cat house

Wil Whitehouse spent the summer building Marshall a replica of The Burrow, the magical dwelling first inhabited by the Weasley clan in the popular book and film series.

He told reporters, "It's meant to be out of square and out of level because it's held up by magic in the movie and we wanted to capture that feeling so it's actually stick built. Normally in a construction setting, you would cut all of your studs the same and stand up your walls to make sure everything was level but with this, I would cut one piece at 55 inches and the other at 59 inches."

After 300 hours of construction, 16,000 hand-cut shingles, 144 roof rafters, 40 2x4s, 18 windows, 102 window panes and gallon and a half of glue, the house was finally completed, much to Marshall's delight. The mini-Burrow won't be moved to her backyard until it comes off display at the woodworking shop on October 20th, but when asked whether her cats will enjoy their new home away from home, Marshall responded with an enthusiastic, "YES!!"

The finished product will be on display at Whitehouse Woodworks until Oct. 20th

I think it's a beautiful thing and she isn't crazy at all. I often wonder why people refer to us female cat lovers as "crazy" when there are so many people who like say... children, dogs, spam, etc. and we don't refer them as "crazy". She's awesome. haha

That's fantastic! And Tasha I agree... apart from I sometimes call people with kids 'crazy baby people' - it seems only fair!!
