I never knew that cat parades were a thing, but after last week's discovery of Belgium's Kattenstoet Cat Parade and Festival, ilove.cat now has a full report on this year's "Cat Monster" Parade in Kagurazaka, Japan (Kagurazaka is a neighborhood in Tokyo). In its second year, the Halloween parade is open to anyone who is dressed like a cat, and they even have on-site "cat makeup services" in case you need help in that department, too!
According to (an extremely loose) Google translation of the "About" page on the parade's website, "We never ask your age, sex, nationality, occupation, or other questions. There is no problem even if you don't know about Kagurazaka or dislike cats. Everyone who disguises themselves as cats can participate."
Visit ilove.cat for more pictures of the parade's festive feline paw-ticipants!

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone want to start a NYC Cat Parade/Festival with me? For this spring. Like the end of May (my birthday heehee). I can't think of anything that would make me happier than to dress up like a cat and march around. I would love to plan this, but I definitely would want help. email me!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an amazing idea, Julie!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Julie we need a cat parade. Instead of Occupy here or there, we can do "Cat on Parade' here or there, I'm in! ~;p
