Welcome back for another edition of Caturday, where we catch up on the week's latest cat news and get to meet some of your amazing kitties!
This week, we discovered the cattiest of cat sweaters, met Maru's new four-legged friend, went crazy for a cute kitty baking mold, marveled at a backwards kitten photography book, enjoyed some whimsical Tuxedo Cat art, found out how eating chocolate can help benefit feline rescue, learned some potentially bad news for Tokyo's cat cafes, defended Hank the cat's senate campaign against his doggy detractors, and took comfort in the fact that we are all cat people - even if that means we like eating ice cream in our pajamas.
Also, I debuted a brand new column called "Around the World in 80 Cats" where I'll be featuring cool kitty travel destinations and pictures from around the world! The first installment is all about Hawaii - I hope you'll check it out, and let me know what you think!
Lewis Merriwether Little
This week's featured feline comes to us from Caitlin, who emailed me demanding that I put her cat on my website (Seriously, the subject of her message was: OMG PUT MUH CAT ON YOUR WEBSITE!). Well, ok...here you go!
Caitlin writes:
This is my adorable cat, Lewis Merriwether Little. He is a cat model when he is not napping and playing with his sisters (human and cat).
Lewis is the cutest, cuddliest and most sociable cat maybe on this side of Japan! A few years ago I wanted to get another cat and spent much of my free time chillaxing at the Humane Society, scoping out prospects. There were a few kitties that were sweet, but none were really making a connection.
Puss in Boots IRL
One day, I went with my mom to drop off her laundry, and next store there was a pet shop. Though normally pet shops sort of make me sad, I agreed to go in and check it out. In a little kitty area there was this magnificently runty little red cat. I leaned down to get a closer look at him and he came up and gave me a cute bat in the face! I HAD TO HAVE HIM. It was like I had developed a case of adorable Stockholm Syndrome.
Lewis loves being held like a baby and kneading endlessly on his unicorn pillow pet. I've also included a picture of his angry and very old sister, Zoe.
Zoe is thrilled to be getting her big moment in the spotlight
Special thanks to Caitlin for sharing her kitty family with us this week! Lewis is a super handsome chap, and it's easy to see how he was hard to resist! One look in those big Puss in Boots eyes, and I would have been done for, too!
Perci checking herself out on Catsparella!
And finally, Susan sent in a picture of last week's Caturday kitty - caught in the act!
She writes: "Found Perci checking herself out on Catsparella! She loves it! She said, 'All right Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.'"

Zoey's picture made me laugh out loud. Lewis definitely looks like a charmer. Pleased to meet them both. Meow!
ReplyDeleteI loved Caitlin's story and the look on Zoey's face is absolutely pricesless!!
ReplyDeleteThank God I am not working today March 3rd! Yes!! Happy Caturday today to all fellow cat-lovers around the nation!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so yoga-ish. I have a tee that has cats in those various yoga poses and it's gotten many comments. My cats do this when they are grooming. So cute. =^-^=
ReplyDeleteThe photo of Zoe and her stuffed animal friend is hilarious! Lewis is such a cutie! It's wonderful when cats are able to make me smile on a day I'm down.
ReplyDeleteLewis looks like a cool dude!!
