I always admire a crafty cat lady like Patti Haskins, the Dallas, TX based graphic designer who sews, stuffs, and crochets her way to lovely cat-themed dolls and decor.
Haskins begins by drawing one of her catty designs on vibrant fabric, before cutting it out and turning it into the purrfect accent pillow. She also makes brightly colored crocheted cat dolls with her signature big-mouthed faces, that can be custom made to match your kitty's unique color and markings. Her line of handmade catnip snakes are decidedly more sassy than slithering, and most kitties will agree that they look like a whapping good time!
Patti shares her home with two dogs and five cats, and I was sad to read that her dog Mickey was recently diagnosed with cancer-spindle cell sarcoma. He underwent surgery a few weeks ago to remove the lump, and as Patti writes on her blog: "Now we are to find out how aggressive that cancer is and the next course we’ll take, radiation most likely. Like mother like son. I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. I hope he doesn’t have to go through all that. It sucks. Anyhow, this is going to cost us plenty so if you ever thought of buying something from my shop, now would be the perfect time."
