Now here's a feel-good story to help restore your faith in humanity:
Maloos, whose name means very cute or lovable in Arabic, was rescued from a rough life on the streets of Iran last month. Due to a congenital deformities in his hips and legs, he was discovered dragging his legs behind him, soaked in mud and gasoline, with shrapnel stuck in his face. Well-meaning, yet undertrained vets in Tehran tried to perform surgery to repair his deformities, but his hind leg had to be amputated after an infection was brought on by a surgical mistake.
Concerned animal rescue workers from Sayeh Animal Guardians in Iran contacted San Francisco Animal Care & Control, who agreed to provide medical care for the foreign-born feline. A good samaritan kindly traveled with the kitty to the U.S., where he arrived on April 15th after a 20 hour flight.
Maloos is currently resting comfortably at SF/ACC after receiving further treatment, and his prospects for future adoption look good. Shelter Director Rebecca Katz tells KTVU Channel 2 News: "His personality is so great. He's a really special cat and I think there are going to be a lot of people who are interested in him. I hope so."
Visit the SF/ACC website or like them on Facebook to learn more about this incredible survivor kitty who continues to thrive, despite already using up more than one of his nine lives.
He's lovely! Ginger guys are the best. It's awesome of everyone who helped him to have done so, too. :)
