One of these things is not like the other..
I am eternally five years old when it comes to cute, plush goods, which is why I just cannot resist the allure of Squaredy Cats. I first encountered the cube shaped kitties in 2010, when I interviewed Kurt Marquart about the cat-inspired creations.
Founded in 2008 by Marquart and his wife Elaine De La Mata, Squaredy Cats represent self expression, being proud of who you are, and having a positive mental attitude (all of the cats are not "squared" (scared) to do something). Plush versions of the cats have been around since 2011, but the dynamic duo were anxious to create a place for themselves in the speciality market, hence a new licensing deal and a new line of cats that matches the quality fans already know and love. The new line includes colorful kitties like Coolette: Not Squared to Be Hip, Zanie: Not Squared to Be Unique, and Dazzle: Not Squared of The Spotlight. There are also refreshed versions of old favorites like Midnight: Not Squared of The Dark, who happens to be my fav, because she reminds me of my own real-life scaredy cat, Priscilla!
Want to know how you can get your paws on a cat of your own? The Squardies run for around $14.00 each, and can be found in speciality shops, including our friends at Georgia's Gifts, an online boutique dedicated to all things cat.
