Electro-house music star deadmau5 may be best known for rocking his signature mouse-inspired helmets on stage, but the Canadian DJ is also a devoted cat dude who is crazy about his charismatic cow kitty, Professor Meowingtons pHd.
Meowingtons, a star in his own right, recently teamed up with Sol Republic to create the world's first pair of tiny headphones that are "perfect for furry music lovers who want to block out the annoying sound of dogs and humans, while looking like the stylish cat in town."
An infomercial for the product was produced by Rooster, and stars Rooster Creative Director and Vice co-founder, Gavin McInnes, as a pitchman with an unfortunate allergy to felines. While Meowingtons himself doesn't appear in the clip (although his picture features prominently), two other cats are on hand to deftly illustrate how impossible it is to get a pair of headphones to stay on a cat.
Although the whole thing sounds like a (super early?) April Fool's Day joke (remember Fresh Step's Bacon Scented Cat Litter hoax from earlier this year?), this product is the real deal. The collectible headphones were made in a limited edition batch of 10 and are being sold for $999 a pair, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the ASPCA.

Haha, too silly.
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid, unnecessary and potentially abusive. I fear a dumb owner would crank up the music and hurt the cat's ears.
ReplyDelete@Pam Due to their high cost ($1,000) and limited edition nature, I think they're more of a collectible item for deadmau5 fans, as opposed to something that is really meant to be purchased for a cat.
ReplyDeleteI love deadmau5 and love meowingtons. I would buy them. It's all on how you view no negatively it great post ill have two please
ReplyDeleteThe heck with the cats...I want them for ME to drown out my "Bob Barker" Sheltie!
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny no cat would allow this on their head but funny none the less
