Wicket
This week's featured felines are a sweet little family of furries who were rescued by Allison, who writes:
I'd like to share my kitty friends with you.
The first one is Wicket. On December 17, 2010, I walked into my vet's office after work and asked if they had any kitties that needed a home. Fortunately, they said yes and out came this tiny little fluff of a kitten, scared and clinging to the vet assistant. I agreed to take her, and received my new kitten package and paid a small fee for her shots and food. Off we went into the cold, and the tiny kitty who didn't have a name yet clung to my coat in the car.
She has been my best friend ever since. She was about five or six weeks old when we got her, so I gave her the birthday of November 5th. Her name took a while to come to me, but one day I was watching a Star Wars Marathon on TV and the name "Wicket" from Return of the Jedi popped in my head (previously I was calling her "New Kitty" or "Holly"). Wicket seems to suit her spunky attitude! You can check out Wicket on her very own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WicketFuzzyPants.
Suzie and Cleo
Our other cats are Cleo, Suzie, and Izziebelle, who we have nicknamed the "Ninja Sisters." A feral cat we were feeding (we named her Lilyput because she was so tiny) had four kittens on April 5, 2012 (one of them, Ziggy Starcat, is still living with his momma). After they were born, we trapped Lilyput and got her fixed before returning her back to the driveway.
Driveway Kittens
Trapping the kittens was a hard job. We only got three out of four, because Ziggy was too smart for the trap and bolted out of fear (he came back the day after his mom returned from being fixed). We decided to call the three black kittens "The Ninjas" because of their climbing skills. They climbed the inside of their cage like acrobats!
Izziebelle
We thought Suzie and Izziebelle were boys at first, until they got comfortable with us. Three girl kittens, wow! They're all friends with Wicket, except for Izziebelle, who still gets easily spooked. We were only going to foster them, but they soon became foster failures when we decided to keep them all!
Special thanks to Allison for sharing her beautiful felines with us this week! I'm so glad that Wicket and the Ninja Sisters are now part of her happy, kitty-loving home!
