Grumpy Cat Speaks: "I'm Not Grumpy. That's Just How My Face Is Shaped."

After her appearance on The Today Show last weekend, Tardar Sauce the Grumpy Cat embarked on a whirlwind tour of several NYC-area media outlets to spread her trademark lack-of-cheer.

BuzzFeed threw her a party, Laughing Squid dropped by her hotel room for a festive photo shoot, and Refinery29 interviewed her about cat fashion, before dressing her in an outfit by United Bamboo.

However, it was at Tumblr where Tard finally had her say, in an unexpectedly moving video, narrated in the voice of a child. In it, the cantankerous-looking kitty sets the record straight on being called grumpy, and talks about stinky city cabs, being passed around The Today Show set, and her fear of heights.

With all of the online memes and media publicity surrounding the famous feline, it's nice to be reminded that she's still a real cat, after all. A real cat who enjoys eating tuna, sleeping on her back, and looking out of windows with a view of the desert, from inside her Arizona home.

  1. Tard seems basically unspoiled by all the fame... and like many celebrities, is very different in real life than when she appears in front of an audience!
