DIY Cat Emoji Valentine's Day Cards
My favorite thing about Valentine's Day (aside from the chocolate, of course), is the opportunity to craft my own cards. While I always strive to keep my creations cat-related, this year I was also inspired by another one of my obsessions: Emoji.
Cat emoji
Emoji (or in this case, catmoji), is the Japanese term for the cute little emoticons used in email and text messages. Last year, a software update provided iPhone users with a host of new feline-related icons (including a kissing kitty and one with hearts in its eyes), both tailor made for pop-culturally aware valentines.
What you'll need: Yellow, black, pink, and metallic gold scrapbook paper, hearts (I bought puffy felt hearts, but feel free to substitute paper, stickers, etc.), pencil/pen and paper for tracing, scissors, glue.
Step 1. Draw or trace the catmoji of your choice (I used this site as a reference). Blow the image up and print it out, or trace it right from the screen if you're feeling lazy. I based the size of mine around the size of the hearts I purchased for the eyes, but you can make it as big or as small as you want.
Step 2. Cut out each piece individually, including the mouth, whiskers, ears, and nose. The whiskers require the most patience here, but trust me, it's worth it.
Step 3. Glue each piece into place, using the original image and/or your tracing as a reference.
Step 4: Ta-da! Give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.
Furry cute Valentine cards you have made <3
