Abby
This week's featured feline is a ginger kitty who was rescued from a tree as a kitten, and went on to become the face of RCTees!
Toni writes:
While walking our dog, Roxanne, in a local park one day, my husband Mark and I spotted a kitten. Roxy spotted her too, slipped off her leash, and chased the little thing up a tree. We tried to get the kitten down, but realized she was staying put for as long as we had the dog, so we left. We returned a few hours later to make sure she was ok, but she was still there -- and had climbed even higher!
I called my son Dane to bring a sheet to the park. He and I held the sheet while Mark shook the tree (thinking she would fall and we could catch her in the sheet – yea I know…LOL, we looked like The Three Stooges!).
She decided that we were out of our minds and simply backed down out of the tree herself. As I carried her to the car, I told Mark I would find her a good home (*wink, wink*). That was seven years ago. She and Roxy are now best buds and she has Mark wrapped around her little kitty pinky paw.
Roxy and Abby
It’s so funny to think that so many people, all over the world know Abby from our tee shirt designs, when in reality she’s such a shy little cat. I love that she trusts me 100%, even though it goes against every fiber of her being.
Showing off her yoga moves
She spends most of her days assisting me with my online shop. I honestly don’t know how I would get anything done without her help.
Marcus and Abby
We had another 7-year-old cat named Marcus when we brought little Abby home. Marcus came from our local shelter, and as you can see, he took her right in. Sadly, we lost him three years later.
Max and Abby
We thought Abby needed a companion after losing Marcus, so we got Max, another shelter kitty. He was a maniac, and a real sweetheart, but we lost him suddenly a year after he came into our lives. Sometimes we consider getting a new addition, but Roxanne is 13, and she and Abby get along great, so for now they have each other.
Special thanks to Toni for sharing Abby's story with us this week! Her RCTees Etsy shop stocks Abby Cat tees and totes, and the pretty kitty is also featured on their popular "Real Men Love Cats" design!
