Happy 8th Birthday, Charlie!

I'm 8!

It's hard to believe, but today is Charlie's 8th birthday! Well, let me back up for a minute. Since we found him living in a sewer on our street almost seven years ago, we don't really know when his birthday is, exactly how old he is, or if he even came from this planet, for that matter. After we lured him into our house (after putting up posters and making sure he wasn't microchipped), my mom decided that we should celebrate his birthday on May 1, based on his personality and a cat horoscope book she read (and now you know where I get it from). 

After seven years of togetherness, Priscilla still acts like she's never seen him before in her life, and although they coexist mostly in peace, not a day goes by when she doesn't hiss at him or give him dirty looks. He retaliates by holding her hostage in the bathroom and getting in the way of her good time, although he would never lift a paw to her. He's the sweetest cat you could ever meet, and I've never heard him hiss. He's the original velcro kitty, who loves getting nightly belly rubs and watching his favorite shows on TV, including "Too Cute" and "My Cat From Hell" on Animal Planet.

A few years ago I was fortunate enough to meet with famed animal communicator Sonya Fitzpatrick, who told me that he was abandoned by his original family, but that he was grateful because he was so much happier with us (she also said that he likes his name, which cracks me up). We'll never know the true story of what happened to him or where he came from, but one thing is for sure: He picked the right sewer!
