It's Caturday!

Welcome back for another edition of Caturday, where we catch up on the week's latest cat news, and get to meet some of your amazing kitties!

This week, Grumpy Cat inked a movie deal, we checked out some really cool cat donuts, and I recapped my Catster style columns for May!

Also, there's still time to enter for your chance to win a handmade crochet birthday cat hat from I Heart Needlework! I'm drawing the lucky winner this coming Tues. 6/4!

Ninja and Cookie

This week's featured felines are an adorably affectionate duo, who are never far from each other's side!

Amy writes:

These are our family cats, Cookie and Ninja. The tortie is Ninja and the black & white kitty is Cookie. They are always together!

They're a week apart in age, and we got them from the local animal shelter at just 12 and 13 weeks old. These babies are constantly in a pile somewhere. I got them when I was so overcome with grief after our cat, Casper, a Siamese domestic mix passed away suddenly after only twelve years with us. I couldn't deal with a home without cats, so I replaced one cat with two.

They are almost three years old now, and we adore them. My 12-year-old daughter was thrilled to have a cat of her own (Cookie), and she's very partial to her. Ninja is very partial to me so we each have our own 'baby'. I've never understood animal-less homes (unless allergies are involved) because of the joy they bring to our lives. They aren't property, they are family members.

It's actually funny because my mother-in-law isn't a cat person, and she complained constantly about how intrusive they were. I was quick to remind her that they live here, this is their home, and it's not possible to intrude in your own home. I think she understands now. :)

I bet she does! Special thanks to Amy for sharing her furry family with us this week!

  1. Oh the dear babies! Of course though, I am partial to them as the Tortie reminds me of Admiral, and the Tuxie of me, Katie Isabella.

  2. What a beautiful little story.

Thank you for bringing these wonderful, gorgeous kitties into your lives.

Working at the SFSPCA, the darker cats always take the longest to get adopted. Some people forget that all cats are beautiful, no matter what their fur is like on the outside. They are all beautiful and special on the inside.
