Cats Lick It All In Adorable Italian Mop Commercial

I gatti leccano di tutto! (Cats lick it all!)

Cats are quick little devils, and the effects of a toppled glass can be unpredictable if you aren't quick to clean it up. That's the message behind a new commercial from household cleaning supply company Vileda Italia, that promises their microfiber mop will save your cat from stains.

Cats lick anything

Coffee

The clip features felines (hypothetically) under the influence of everything from caffeine to chamomile, to adorably illustrate the importance of cleaning up spills before kitties get to them!

Salsa Piccante

Chamomile

In case you were worried any cats were harmed during the making of the commercial, fear not. A disclaimer posted along with the video assures, "The behaviors of the animals depicted in the video are not related in any way to the actual intake of the drinks in the associated caption! In addition, we have been assured that the last cat in the video is actually a teetotaler :)."

Too much wine!

Bored Felines Encouraged To "Be More Dog" In Innovative Telecom Campaign

O2 - Be More Dog

The suggestion to "Be More Dog" could be seen as an affront to cat people, but UK telecom provider O2 is betting that their new campaign, encouraging customers to embrace their inner canine, will have dog and cat lovers alike running to sign up for their services.

Over 10 million dollars was reportedly poured into the project, which aims to "spread positivity, excitement and inquisitiveness" by getting people to "embrace their inner dog". The commercial features a formerly bored kitty chasing cars, fetching sticks, and engaging in other happy-go-lucky activities normally reserved for pups ("Carpe diem. It means grab the frisbee!" the voiceover proclaims).

O2 Marketing and consumer director, Gary Booker told The Guardian, "We're living in one of the most exciting eras as far as technology goes... but somehow we've got a little jaded by it all.

"'Be more dog' is all about encouraging Britain to embrace the new, have a go with the unknown and dabble in innovation. We're also gearing up for our 4G launch later this summer, so it's the perfect time to get the nation trying more and being a little bit more dog."

While cute, the whole idea that cats need any help getting jazzed about technology is quite puzzling, considering all they've done to take over the internet in just a few short years.

And how are cats themselves responding to the battle cry of #bemoredog?

In the words of the world's foremost philosophical and ennui-filled feline, Henri, le Chat Noir, "Good god, no. Not even a little bit."

Talking Cats Score Big Time With Target Haul

Cats Score Big Time with Target HAUL

So you know that thing where you go to Target to pick up a few things, and end up leaving with a new sundress, crap from the dollar bin in the front, and whimsical owl tumblers?

Britney and Lizzy's human recently took a trip to the bullseye, resulting in a splendor of riches for her sassy talking teen kitties -- and some hilarious catfights over collars, treats, and catnip.

With thanks to my friend Caren from Cat Chat with Caren & Cody for the find!

Katy Perry Teams Up With Wigged Kitties For Popchips To The Rescue Campaign

Katy and the Popcats

Sometimes when a bunch of awesome things get together, the result is greater than the sum of its parts.. like an ice cream sundae, for example, or this slightly confusing Popchips promo starring Katy Perry, cats in wigs, and a fat feline with a German accent.

Katy really channels her inner Catwoman in the spot, as she drives around in a kickass van, and can be seen rapping, slamming milk shots, and ultimately defeating "Fat Cat" (a creepy puppet/purveyor of greasy chips), with the help of her wigged out kitty crew.

The video is part of the Popchips to the rescue campaign, benefitting the ASPCA. Fans who visit the Popchips Facebook page can download a $0.50 cent coupon towards the all natural snacks, with each bag redeemed through 7/31 resulting in a matching donation to the animal welfare organization.

Juicy Couture Features Feline Models In Holiday Accessories Campaign

Delicious necklaces to nom!

Juicy Couture isn't offering up any feline-inspired wares this holiday season, but that's not stopping the luxury brand from cashing in on the cat fashion craze. Their homepage is currently dedicated to an accessories story featuring blinged out felines modeling rhinestone jewelry, but who can focus on pink purses and pavĂ© hearts when there's pretty kitties to admire?

Swedish Insurance Company Sets Skydiving Felines To R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly"

Folksam reklamfilm: Evas katt

Folksam is one of the largest mutual insurance companies in Sweden, and wants all of their owners to be happy and stuff. In the spirit of giving back, they dedicated their latest commercial to policyholder Eva, whose "heart beats for the cat."

Eva's feline-inspired tribute comes in the form of skydiving kitties, set to the tune of R. Kelly's inspirational late-90s hit, "I Believe I Can Fly." Through the wonders of technology, the cats soar and paw bump their way through the air, before finally parachuting back down to earth.

Litter Genie Spot Takes Walter On A Trip Down Catnip Lane

Litter Genie: I Haz a Catnip in Mah Head

In the tradition of trippin' cats (inspired, no doubt, by the now classic Friskies "Adventureland" commercial), one groovy kitty takes a trip into his mind's eye after getting a whiff of what must have been an especially potent blend o' nip. The psychedelic music video, which is actually a clever commercial for Litter Genie, includes wizard costumes, cat breading, and gratuitous shots of scooping poop.

When he's not busy making ineffective PSAs against feline drug abuse, Walter, the star of "I Haz a Catnip in Mah Head," dabbles in other musical genres, including hard rock (see I Haz a Pie Row Tek Nik). The multi-talented kitty also has his own Twitter account, where he drops pearls of wisdom such as, "The loff you give me iz so stong! Like diz catnips in mah head. #littergenie #MeowMwahz."

In related news, the folks at Litter Genie are having a Cat Snaps contest with I Can Haz Cheezburger, where you can upload and digitally accessorize a pic of your cat looking like the rock star they really are. Prizes include a Litter Genie litter disposal system (natch) and a grand prize professional feline photo shoot.

Argentinean Coffee Commercial Promises Giant Cat Couch With Every Cup

Argentina-based coffee brand Arlistan hit the creative jackpot with their latest commercial that likens drinking their beverages to being enveloped in the warmth of a purring, oversized cat (I'm sold, and I don't even drink coffee).

A larger than life feline named Whisky plays the role of the real life kitty couch, which his human snuggles on after fixing herself a cup o' joe. If the idea of a giant race of domesticated cats brings you more joy than you can possibly bear, ask yourself how the heck did she get that huge cat in her house, and where in the world does it go to the bathroom?

Cats With Thumbs Are Back In Cravendale Milk Sequel

Cats taking over the world? It's happening sooner than you think. Cravendale Milk has released a follow-up to last year's massively successful "Cats with Thumbs" campaign, giving us a glimpse what the kitties have been up to since the last time we saw them adjusting to their new digits. Headed up by fearless feline leader, Bertrum Thumbcat, the polydactyl pussycats have been catnapping and brainwashing all of the country's milkman in an effort to take over the world (or at least get all of the cream).

Is your cat interested in joining the dairy-stealing brigade? Bertrum's Facebook page has a Thumbcat Army app where you can upload a picture of your kitty recruit, and deck them out in a variety of disguises including facial hair, hats, glasses, and more.

Maru Picks Your Prize In Lucky Cube Promotion for UNIQLO

Having already conquered the whole of the internet, Maru has bigger fish to fry than low-budget cat videos. The online icon, whose has previously appeared in commercials for Fresh Step cat litter, is now purrfecting his hustle in an online promotion for Japanese fashion brand UNIQLO.

To celebrate the opening of their new San Francisco store, the retailer recruited the box-aholic to be the feline face of their interactive Lucky Cube giveaway. Unfortunately, Maru doesn't figure into any of the pawesome prizes, however his proclivity for climbing into square shaped objects makes him the ideal candidate for deciding whether you win UNIQLO clothing, a Blimp Ride, or a Mystery Prize (which in my case, ended up being a free track by singer-songwriter Goapele). Thanks, Maru!

Play Lucky Cube with Maru at uniqlo.com/luckycube, and redeem your prize at the UNIQLO Pop-Up Experience through Sept. 16 and starting Oct. 15 at the Union Square flagship store in SF.

New Hanes Commercial Claims That Their Shirts Are Softer Than Kittens

Hanes has created a surefire viral hit with their latest commercial for ComfortBlend tees and underwear, which they claim are their softest ones yet. To help illustrate this point, a man wearing a cozy (yet obviously digitally enhanced) kitten tee, debates the finer points of Hanes shirts vs. kitten shirts with some friends, one of whom just happens to be Michael Jordan (oh, so that's what he's been up to lately?).

I don't know how the softness of cotton clothing could ever compare to the heavenly texture of a kitten's fluffy fur (or the eternal feeling of well-being and happiness that being luxuriously covered in baby cats would bring), but admittedly, the option *might* be preferable to constantly cleaning up all that cat hair, and incessantly worrying if any of them had to poop!

Warby Parker's Latest Campaign Stars A Glasses-Less Cat Burglar

Hip eyewear maker Warby Parker went to the dogs last April Fool's Day when they claimed to have designed a line of glasses for canines, but when it came time to release a real, French inspired collection for humans this summer, they opted to let the cat out of the bag.

To celebrate the release of The Auteur Collection, the brand commissioned a short film, inspired by "the ebullience and aesthetic of french new wave cinema." The cinematic clip stars Martine Langatta and Diego Ongaro, along with an adorable kitty who makes an appearance amid lingering shots of fancy eyeglasses and cheese.

Very nicely done, but may I make one tiny suggestion? Next time, they should consider casting Henri, le Chat Noir, who I'm sure would be more than happy to lend his own brand of feline existentialism.

Belgian Lotto Adverts Prove Black Cats Bring Good Luck

Black kitties are some of the sweetest and most beautiful cats I have ever met, and it always breaks my heart to hear they are most often overlooked at shelters.

This Friday the 13th, our friend Sara (aka Wonky Eye Kitty Lily's human), posted an adorable Belgian lotto commercial starring one very lucky black cat, which takes aim at the superstition that the much maligned felines bring bad fortune. I asked if she could translate the clip for us, and not only did she deliver, but she also sent over three additional ads that prove black cats are anything but unlucky!

"Basically every time there's a Friday the 13th, the Belgian national lottery holds a special draw called 'Super Lotto'," she says. "For at least 5 years now their Super Lotto TV ads have featured black cats."

This is the original video Sara posted. Translation: "And you? How do you make sure luck is on your side? This Friday 13th May you could win 5 million euros. Super Lotto, give your dreams a chance." (Check out a cute making of the video here!)

Translation: "This Friday the 13th you win with Super Lotto. So who will you thank? This Friday you could win 5 million euros. Super Lotto, give your dreams a chance."

Translation: "Don't let this chance go by. This Friday the 13th you could win 3 million euros. Super Lotto, well played!"

Translation: "Friday the 13th will be extra special thanks to Super Lotto. 5 million euros will be divided over ranking 1, 2 and 3. That makes for extra lucky people."

Thank you again to Sara for all of her help! You can find her on Facebook as Wonky Eye Kitty.

Facebook Spoof, Meowbook, Positions Itself As The First Social Network For Cats

Technically the first social network for cats already exists (Catster, anyone?), but that isn't stopping Thomas Mai, creator of the fictional MEOWBOOK. "Cats can add each other as cats," Mai enthuses, as he deadpans his way through the hilarious kitten-filled clip, where he also pokes fun at cat breading, and pays tribute to Harry Pointer, the grandaddy of the lol-cat movement.

Except for a brief mention, you wouldn't even know that the video is actually an undercover commercial for chocolate bar Cadbury Boost, however, as "Award Winning Journalist" Ben Fordham says, "Pretty much anything having to do with cats and the internet works."

"A white cat in a green chair. That's hip."

Nominations can be made once a day through June 29th!

Eva Longoria Stars In Sexy New Sheba Cat Food Commercial

New SHEBA "Follow Your Passion" TV Commercial featuring Eva Longoria

Shortly after hanging up her heels at Wisteria Lane, "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria has already picked up a cuddly new co-star to get cozy with. The actress has been tapped in a new ad campaign for Sheba cat food, that's all about following your passion in life. In a recently released commercial, the sizzling star kicks off her stilettos, seductively sashays around the house, and guzzles down a jug of milk, because that is just what passionate cat lovers do.

Ahead of the clip's release, the brand also shared a behind-the-scenes video where Longoria revealed that her feline co-star, a Russian Blue named Nick, was the most "cute, cuddly, and loving" acting partner she's ever had. With stars like Cee Lo Green (who recently signed a deal with Meow Mix), and other celebs more publicly proclaiming their love for felines, does this signal the start of a new trend in celebrity pet food endorsements?

Cats And Dogs Party Together In UK Soft Drink Commercial

J2O is a fruity beverage manufactured in the UK that caters to the club crowd, and consists of a mix of two flavors, hence the tagline, "A Bottleful of Togetherness."

To help illustrate this point, the brand created a commercial featuring a pack of human-bodied hipster pups crashing a cat party (with the help of a case of the drink), which inevitably leads to a night of dancing, soft drink swilling, and one very passionate interspecies smooch!

Friskies Aims To End Cat Boredom With New PSA

Last month, we received a firsthand (err..paw?) account of the perils of Cat Boredom (aka "CB") from Henri, Le Chat Noir - the chronically blah house kitty who turned his philosophical French thoughts into a viral video hit.

Now, Friskies has bravely come forward to address the chronic condition that silently affects "jillions" of cats each year, whose naturally lazy dispositions simply ooze with ennui. Comedian Chris Parnell stars in the SNL-style sketch, and recommends that you boost your kitty's spirits with some treats - although, the toys, confetti, and cat tree featured in the clip probably wouldn't hurt either.

With the stigma associated with being a listless feline quickly becoming a thing of the past, how long until the cause of Cat Boredom sees a line of awareness bracelets, and a Purr for the Cure walk of its very own?

Toyota Succeeds At Creating Yet Another Internet Cat Video

Perhaps taking a cue from their Japanese counterparts who recently turned to an animated blue kitty to push their products, Toyota USA has released a RAV4 commercial featuring a driving orange tabby and his wacky cat lady of an owner. I'm not sure the video is going to convince me to buy one of their cars, but it's probably the most amusing feline-themed automobile commercial I've seen since Subaru's "Stolen Parking Space" clip from 2010.

Can An Earless, Blue Cat Named Doraemon Inspire Japanese Youth To Start Driving Again?

I'm a bit of a completist when it comes to cat culture, which makes it surprising (to me, at least) that I've never done a blog post about the Japanese cultural icon known as Doraemon.

For the uninitiated, the blue, earless kitty is a robot (apparently his robotic ears were eaten by a mouse, giving him a phobia of the creatures), who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a schoolboy named Nobita Nobi.

Doraemon

The manga character, whose name roughly translates to "stray" has been around since his comic first appeared in 1969. Doraemon is so universally recognized throughout Asia, that he's been named an anime ambassador for Japan, and was also the subject of a recent campaign by Toyota encouraging young people to get their driver's licenses.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Japan's domestic car market is shrinking, partly in thanks to the lack of new drivers on the road. To help encourage those potential customers, a live action version of Nobita, who is now 30-years-old, illustrates how not having a car is lame, and not to mention totally disastrous for your romantic life. Defeated, Nobita begs his old friend Doraemon (played by French actor Jean Reno) for a new whip, but is turned down because he doesn't have his license.

So, will an animated cat be enough to convince Japan's disillusioned youth to get behind the wheel? With driver's licenses in Japan costing a reported $2,000(!), it might take a little more than a guilt trip mixed with childhood nostalgia to change their minds.
